"Elizabeth May's Plan will SAVE FPTP" claims Michael Marshall at HFAx2

Blogger Michael Marshall, over at HFAx2 , dares suggest it would have been a disaster for the world's environmental movement,  if Elizabeth May's 2015 efforts to concentrate Green Party resources on just 16 winnable seats had worked !

Michael has a degree in Political Science and he points to poli sci theory to suggest that winning 16 Green seats on 5% of the national vote under a FPTP system would have been a disaster for the cause of PR voting in Canada and a much bigger disaster for the whole world's environmental future.

He is in such despair over the entire Green Party membership's PR killing tactics, albeit something the Party is doing unconsciously, that he is 'forthrightly' resigning his GPC membership.

He will still faithfully vote for them, donate to them, put a sign up for them, volunteer hard for them -- but he hopes his gesture might at least provoke a little internal party discussion.

The Greens' election results in 2015 are lower - not higher - than they were in their initial break-through in 2004....

  1. I can only repeat that all the nations leading the fight against doing anything meaningful to stop global warming are all FPTP voting nations and all the nations fighting hard to reduce greenhouse gases are all PR voting nations. Canada, as a moral leader in the world, could and should do so much to make parliaments more inclusive via PR voting - a big start to making everything in our world more inclusive...
